Tamara is a native Texan and her violin playing is as sweet as the iced tea there.

She began studying violin as a child, and discovered her love for classical music and her instrument. Being the curious girl she was, however, she quickly found a love for all styles of music and began to aggressively pursue playing bluegrass, country, texas swing, rock and electro-acoustic music.

Tamara studied at Texas Christian University with Curt Thompson and currently performs with The Polyphonic Spree and Telegraph Canyon. She is also a contributing violinist for Warren Jackson Hearne (The Gloomadeers), The Boxcar Bandits and Robert Gomez. She has appeared on albums with Astronautalis, Bill Calahan (Smog), Micah P. Hinson and Centromatic.

Tamara's favorite things? – fried chicken and sci-fi novels, naturally.

Chameleon Chamber Group is an electro-acoustic symphony performing classical music with a modern twist. Like most of the composers, their performances are deadly serious, though injected with a good dose of humor, playfulness, thoughtfulness and color. Invoking the influence of latter-day artists such as Wendy Carlos, Brian Eno, and Carl Stalling, they perform the music of Bach, Satie, Rossini and Schumann – to name just a few – with a stunning authority. These skillful Chameleons exploit the evolution of digital components and electronic sounds while preserving the historical accuracy of the music in its day. The result is an unexpected and captivating expression of familiar melodies through a futuristic sound. Chameleon Chamber Group consistently delivers haunting emotion and virtuoso fun.

Upcoming Performances

Chameleon Chamber Group will perform at NorthPark Center on Saturday, February 13, 2010 for the Dallas Public Library’s “Children’s Activity Series” presented by Atmos Energy. This fun-filled performance is designed for elementary school age children. We take the stage at 2:00 pm in the NorthCourt which is located between Nordstrom and Macy’s, beneath AMC NorthPark 15 theaters.

This event is made possible by an ongoing partnership between NorthPark Center and the Dallas Public Library providing free events for children and their family. NorthPark Center is located at 8687 North Central Expressway, Dallas, Texas 75225.

Iris Leu - piano, keyboards

Iris is an award-winning singer/songwriter who embraces the solo musician's lifestyle by frequently touring the United States with nothing but her keyboard and a suitcase. Yes, a matchbox can hold Iris's clothes.

She released her first full-length album hushaboo in February 2009. Though initially recorded for her family and friends, the album received nods from the media and launched her into Dallas music scene.She is now one of the most sought-after pianists in Dallas, and the winner of Quick Magazine's "Next Big Thing" 2009 award.

During her youth, Iris competed in the classical piano circuit and attended the Texas Conservatory for Young Artists. She is an alum of the Texas Academy of Math and Science and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in neurobiology.

In addition to her solo work, Iris is the newest member of Chameleon Chamber Group and plays in Clay Pendergrass' collaborative group, Morning Elephant. Visit her online.

Some fun tidbits: Knows the Greek alphabet by heart. Can't tie her shoelaces properly. Swears by honey and menthol cough drops.

Rachel Yoder - bass clarinet

Originally from Indiana, Rachel Yoder is a graduate student, teacher, and freelance musician in the Dallas – Fort Worth area. She is currently working towards a doctorate in clarinet performance at the University of North Texas where she is a student of James Gillespie. She also holds degrees in music education from Ball State University and clarinet performance from Michigan State University.

Rachel was a winner of the UNT Concerto Competition in 2009, performing Scott McCallister's X with the UNT Symphony Orchestra. As a Teaching Fellow in clarinet for UNT, Rachel teaches undergraduates in addition to maintaining a private studio of middle and high school students in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She has performed and recorded with the UNT Wind Symphony, performed as principal clarinet with the UNT Chamber Orchestra and Opera Orchestra, and is currently bass clarinetist for the Sherman Symphony and the UNT Symphony Orchestra.

Rachel is a member of the NOVA new music ensemble at UNT and enjoys collaborating with composition students and faculty to perform new works for clarinet. She has performed works for clarinet and electronics at LaTex electroacoustic festivals in Denton and Houston, TX, and at the Pixilerations festival in Providence, RI.

In addition to performing with more traditional chamber ensembles such as the Madera Winds woodwind quintet, Rachel is bass clarinetist with the electronic/classical Chameleon Chamber Group. She also plays with the improv group Interstellar Space Collective based in Denton, TX, and has recorded with several bands including Shearwater, on their latest album “Rook.”

Audrey Easley - flute, EWI, visioneer

Audrey has been playing the flute for 28 years, and she likes it. In fact, she likes it so much that she set out on the adventure of a lifetime trying to discover all of its possibilities.

While beautiful melodies and the sound of birds chirping are synonymous with the flute, Audrey discovered that she could make a whole bunch of other sounds too. Did you know that the flute can sound like a drum, an electric guitar or a tea kettle? That it can be played really loud?

Audrey loves playing with the flute's sonic possibilities so much that she decided to share them with as many people as possible. In 2000, she joined a famous rock band – The Polyphonic Spree – and began touring the world. She’s played the flute in front of millions of screaming fans. She played the flute for the Nobel Peace Prize Concert. She performed the induction of the Beatles into the UK Music Hall of Fame. She’s played her flute with David Bowie. Her picture has been in hundreds of magazines and newspapers. She’s even been on television a bunch of times.

When she's not onstage with the world's biggest band, she directs Chameleon Chamber Group, plays in DJ EWI and teaches privately. She is a native Dallasite and holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from the University of North Texas – magna cum laude. She also attended graduate school at Keele University in England as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar. During that time, she studied privately in Amsterdam with one of the world's leading innovators of flute – Anne LaBerge. Audrey is really smart and she is always available to teach a lesson.

"What is that thing that looks like an electric clarinet?"
That thing is called an EWI (sounds eeewee) – an acronym for Electronic Woodwind Instrument. It's a breath and touch controlled midi device. Because it requires the entire body to make it sound, it is one of the most highly expressive electronic instruments ever made.

Fun fact:
Audrey drinks her coffee black, but she's been known change it up.
